Concerns About Feminine Hygiene Disposal

One of many problems that we are currently encountering is on how we manage to dispose our waste properly. This involves not only wastes that came from industrial establishments but also our own human waste products. These wastes are crucial since it came from humans and it contains a lot of harmful microorganisms. One solution that can help alleviate this dilemma is to observe proper feminine hygiene disposal in public or even in your own private washrooms.

Flushing sanitary products down the toilet will cause clogs and sewer overflows and could lead to damaging our marine environment.  Throwing them anywhere promotes the spread of harmful microorganisms that could affect many innocent people who happen to come in contact with it.  

Diseases like Hepa B can be transmitted if you come in contact with an affected person’s blood.  Women have menses every month and improperly disposing their feminine pads could possibly harm others.  Women should be cautious in using public restrooms and as much as possible try to avoid touching any surface or if it happens wash hands immediately and disinfect hands by applying an alcohol or sanitizer. 

People should be educated about proper feminine hygiene disposal system so as to contribute in lowering down the case of transmitting communicable diseases. The practice of this system is not only referring to the use of public restrooms but also in our own households.  There are several options to a safer environment.  Restrooms should be provided with hands free trash bins plus sanitizers to avoid contamination. Trash bins should always be available so as to prevent flushing down used sanitary pads and toilet papers.  Feminine hygiene disposal bags are also being promoted nowadays.  It is a handy trash bag where you could temporarily place your used sanitary products during the times that trash bins are not accessible.  

When flushing of wastes down the toilet is reduced, cost on repair would also be reduced, sewers would not overflow and our marine environment would be spared from more pollution.  Provision of hands free trash bins and posting reminders on walls will prevent widespread of communicable diseases especially those that are blood borne, and those that are transmitted through contact with an affected person’s body secretions.
